Colour Harmony

Complementary

  • Complementary colours are colours that are directly opposite each other
  • The higher the contrast of these colours, the more vibrant the outcome will be
  • Tricky to use in large doses
  • Easy for work that you are wanting to stand out
  • Not good to use on text

Analogous

  • Analogous are colours that are seen next to each other on the colour wheel. Usually match well
  • Often found in Nature. Pleasing to the human eye
  • One colour dominates, another supports and the last one is used as an accent

Triad
  • Evenly spread around the colour wheel
  • Vibrant even if pale or unsaturated
  • If used successfully;  the end result should be reasonably balanced, letting one lead and the others to accent

Split Complementary
  • Variation of the complementary colours, Using two colours to adjacent to it's complement
  • Less tension than the visual contrast
  • Often good for beginners in graphic design
  • Easy to mess up

Rectangle
  • Uses four colours in two complementary pairs
  • The richer colours offer a lot of variation
  • The tetrad colours works better if you let one colour be dominant
  • Balance the warm and cool colours out when designing

Square
  • Similar to the Rectangle but more evenly spaced out around the colour circle
  • Easier if one colour is more dominant
  • Needs to balance the contrast between the warmer colours and the cooler colours

Complementary Colours are seen a lot in Film Merchandise and Advertisement. People do there own Pop Art Designs of certain things that they're currently enjoying to take it into their own hands. The image shown on the left has used two vibrant colours that blend well together as the colours are relevant to the image shown. They work well together because of how it contrasts to make one image but with mixing them together.

Production Mind Map

My Political Film Ideas are fairly different, ranging for a comedy to a horror. All of them would include the political aims from the parties but include a number of genres to make it more entertaining.

COMEDY:
I thought it would be a funny idea to have two politicians who were quite close having to debate against each other leading up to the election but also during. It would be amusing to see how they would interact during this stressful time without putting too much pressure on their friendship. I also thought of during the end debate they'd end up discussing funny moments from their past to embarrass one another.

DRAMA :
This was my first idea that I came up with whilst listening to some music that I thought would work really well with this theme. I was thinking something along the lines of a secret agent mystery drama where they have a big job on their hands that needs to be done. The music that I would chose includes some lyrics that can easily relate to the tone I'm trying to create. I think it would be quite creative seeing as politicians gets publicly shamed for what they try to do and this idea would show that in a non violent way.

FANTASY :
This idea was just at the top of my head just to use a variety of genres and seeing how they'd work with the political theme.  I have some basic ideas on where to take this with using a range of camera shots to show their emotions whilst including effective but relevant dialogue. It's not something that would completely to the aims of the politics as it would go off in different direction with character relationships and plot twists but it would include some consequence which would link back to it.

HORROR :
I have been quite into horror movies lately which made me think of an idea that would link the two together. Obviously we know that some of their aims don't live up to there standards and even if we didn't care for them, we'd still know about them due to social media and idle gossip. I thought if they'd be in a situation like this they'd have no choice but to face up to their mistakes and confront them. And also it would quite entertaining to see how they'd to how it's done.

Moldoh Toy Design

MOLDOH TOY DESIGN

INTRO
Our initial design was to have a Play Dough like substance that when left for a number of hours would dry up into your constructed shape. It would have to be wet for you to actually create your design and would need to be stored in a cool place to dry correctly. Obviously Playdough is a very popular toy for a younger age range but it would be a good idea for children to keep their designs instead of reshaping it.

AUDIENCE
The audience for our Toy Design would be children between the ages of 7 and 12 due to how popular constructions toys seem to be but also to keep it safe for them to play with. Children love these types of toys because you can do whatever you want with and design it to how you want it to be. Having the ability to freeze your design and keep it for how long you want makes it more exciting and will become well known quite quickly.

ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES
The advantages of our product is that when you have created your design you can easily have it kept in that shape for as long as you like. We'd also have a wide range of colors for them to chose from so that they can mix and match it to how they like. The only disadvantage that people may come across it that before it dries it can be sticky to wash off you hands and you won't be certain of when it's fully dried so the design could go wrong if you touch it beforehand.

SUMMARY
Overall our Moldoh Product is quite unique in the way that you can mold your design into any shape or form you want and that's there's no limit to it. Having a lot of color choices and having the choice of doing whatever you want with it, and we think it would do well in the construction toy market

Politics Unit 2 Research Summary Statement James Kat

How Many People Don't Know Who The Prime Minister Is

Responses Sheet

Facts
Out of the 53 people we interviewed, only 5 (9.43%) Did not know who the Prime Minister was.
Out of the 5 persons who did not know who the Prime Minister was, 3/5th were females with an average age of 16. Both guys were 18 years old.

Assumptions
We found this surprising because we were actually expecting more people to not know who the Prime Minister was. This is because the stereotype of the younger generation is that they have no knowledge on politics.

Although this number is very small, it is still very shocking to know that there are actually British people who don’t know who’s running their country. The people who set the laws that they have to abide by. The people that can either make or break their future.

What Did I Know?
Before this lesson I knew that quite a lot of people did not know who the Prime Minister was due to how politics is not something many young people talk about. But it was surprising to find out that only a select few didn't know who he was. I also knew that splitting the facts from the assumptions to make it more clearer for the reader so they do not get confused between the statements and our personal opinions.

What Did I Learn?
I learnt that using statistics such as Percentages are a key part of collecting information/data as it gives you an overview of the publics views of the topic you are discussing. I also learnt that so little people didn't know who our prime minister was even though the topic of Politics is not generally popular in the younger generation. It surprised me to know that people aged between 16 and 21 knew so much about certain areas of Politics when not many people in the Media in that age range talk about that subject.

Mega Blok Research

Mega Bloks

Mega Bloks was founded in 1967 under the name Ritvik Toys, it was then renamed Mega Bloks in 2002 and Mega Brands in 2006. It was originated in Canada by a couple named Victor and Rita Bertrand to create a line of construction set toys, puzzles and craft based products.

As seen in this image the design of the cubes is pretty much the same as Lego. This led to Lego taking Mega Bloks to court because of how the cubes combine together is the same concept to their original design. The Supreme Court allowed them to keep selling their product although Lego were not happy about it. And in 2010 it was decided that it was not a trademark so they can continue making these cubes.

The packaging of these products are memorable as well as safe for the children that they're advertising too. As the bricks are fairly big it is unlikely that they can cause a child damage as they cannot swallow them. The concept of the bag makes it easy to put away and make safe when sealed.
